Teradata Establishes Research And Development Centre And Global Consulting Centre In China

Two centres confirm Teradata's growing commitment to China...

Teradata, the global leader in enterprise data warehousing and a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), today announced two new centres of expertise to be located in China within 2006. The new Teradata Research and Development Centre will be located in Beijing and the new Teradata Global Consulting Centre will be based in Dalian.

"These two centres demonstrate our growing and deepening commitment to China," said Mike Koehler, senior vice president and head of Teradata. "They are critical components of the planned growth of Teradata's R&D and our global Professional Services consulting. Both will be important additions to the considerable talent we already have in China. We expect significant growth for both centres over the next several years."

The Teradata Research and Development Centre in Beijing is currently co-located with the Teradata office in Beijing, with new quarters being sought to accommodate planned growth. The centre focuses on core product development for Teradata's data warehouse foundation, providing even deeper product knowledge and expertise to the local market.

"We expect to employ many from China's substantial engineering talent pool as we grow our R&D efforts," said Cliff Wu, vice president of Teradata's Greater China operations. "With this centre, we will gain greater insights into customers' needs in China."

The Global Consulting Centre in Dalian is planned to open during the summer of 2006. The centre's staff will specialise in data warehousing and business intelligence software, and will offer superior capability in end-to-end enterprise data warehouse implementation. The centre will serve customers throughout North Asia and complements other consulting centres recently opened in India and Pakistan.

"Teradata's Global Consulting Centre is a critical component for the growth of the company," said Koehler. "The Global Consulting Centre team in China will be an extension of Teradata Professional Services, the world's leading data warehouse consultancy."
