New study says workers admit wasting more than two hours a day NOT working and getting paid...
VERO BEACH, Florida -- SpectorSoft Corporation, the world's leading provider of Internet Monitoring software for businesses and consumers, today warned businesses that personal web surfing by their employees could be costing them millions. "The problem is much worse than most businesses could possibly imagine" states C. Douglas Fowler, president of Spectorsoft.
A new study released by Salary.com and AOL found that American workers admitted they spend, on average, 2.09 hours a day doing non-work related things - and the single largest distraction is personal Internet surfing.
The survey, which included responses from more than 10,000 workers, found that non-work related activities such as surfing the web, is costing US companies more than $759 billion dollars a year in lost productivity alone.
SpectorSoft, makers of Spector CNE (Corporate Network Edition), noted that personal web surfing not only costs businesses money because of lost production but also could open up an organization to potential lawsuits
because of inappropriate employee behavior. Other costs of excessive internet use are reduced network bandwidth, increased help desk calls caused by the downloading of viruses, spyware and potentially harmful software, and increased use of company hard drive space for storage of non-work related files.
Spector CNE, which combines the award-winning Spector Pro with corporate network installation, configuration and deployment capabilities, dramatically increases productivity by reducing inappropriate use of an organization's computers. Spector CNE can be easily set up to record web sites visited, emails, instant messages and chats, files downloaded, programs launched and even keystrokes typed. More than 200,000 copies of SpectorSoft products have been sold and are being used in corporate and commercial applications.
"I had no idea what it was going to reveal," said Keith Becker, Network Administrator for Illinois Wholesale Cash Register Corporation who installed Spector CNE after employees openly started using their PCs for personal
activities. "After the first week I did a spreadsheet report showing a minimum of 40 to 50 hours a week wasted, just on Internet surfing. The report easily projected savings of more than $50,000 a year. When the word about monitoring got out, and that each employee would be held responsible, non-work activities went down about 98 to 99 percent."
Spector CNE automatically captures and lets you review your employees': emails sent and received, chat conversations and instant messages, files downloaded, web sites visited, applications launched and keystrokes typed. In addition, by taking screen snapshots, Spector CNE creates the equivalent of a digital surveillance tape so that you can see the exact sequence of everything your employees are doing on the computer.
Immediate email alerts notify you whenever certain words (and phrases) you specify are typed by the user or are contained in an email, chat, instant message or a web site. Spector CNE's email recording is so comprehensive
that it covers Outlook, Exchange, AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo and any SMTP/POP3-based architecture.
CNE is available for instant download at www.SpectorCNE.com or by calling toll-free (888) 598-2788. Pricing for Spector CNE begins with a 10-user license priced at $495. SpectorSoft provides free technical support seven
days a week on all products.

Recognizing that corporations, schools and families need to know how people are using their PCs and what they are doing on the Internet, SpectorSoft was founded to provide the first useful and intuitive recording and playback products for Windows and Macintosh-based PCs.
